To locate the 32-bit Office System drivers, use the appropriate version of the ODBC Administrator tool. In 64-bit versions of Windows, there is a separate ODBC Administrator used to manage 32-bit drivers and DSNs. This occurs when the 32-bit version of Office or the 32-bit Office System Drivers is installed on a 64-bit version of Windows. They are not visible in the standard ODBC Administrator dialog that is launched from the Administrative Tools dialog in the Control Panel. If you have large data sets and you do not want to see a data preview while adding ODBC data sources to Data manager or Data load editor, hold down the Shift key while selecting your ODBC data connection.When attempting to create ODBC connections that utilize the Microsoft Office System Driver, such as connections to Access or Excel, on a 64-bit Operating system like Windows 7, the drivers are not visible. Stopping preview of large datasets in tables If this is a concern, it is recommended to connect to the data file using a folder data connection if it is possible. The path can be exposed when the connection is edited, in the data selection dialog, or in certain SQL queries. ODBC data connections using file based drivers will expose the path to the connected data file in the connection string. Security aspects when connecting to file based ODBC data connections The ODBC data sources need to be named and configured identically, and point to the same databases or files. If the app contains ODBC data connections, you need to make sure that the related ODBC data sources exist on the new deployment as well.
